At Mulino Marghen we are happy to do all we can to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. To these ends we look to facilitate your needs as best we can. Please do not hesitate to ask if there is ever anything you may need or desire. Our rooms all have modern en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, free broadband and, of course, wonderful views of the surrounding river and forest. There are barbeques, both on the terrace and in the grounds, which guests are free to use.
We have a small but always growing library, in English, Italian and a few in more diverse languages. In addition to internet access in each of the rooms there is free wi-fi in communal areas of the Mill. There is also table tennis, and we are able to service minor bike repairs. We are more than willing to help where we can to drop-off and pick-up trekkers and bikers, but again advance notice is essential!
The five bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, have splendid views of the gardens, the adjacent river and the surrounding chestnut groves. Every room also has free internet access.
In high season the rooms cost from €55 (single) to €85 (matrimonial/double) per night, and in low season from €45 (single) to €75 (matrimonial/double), including breakfast.
La Camera del Nocciolo
This is our largest double room. Spacious and full of light, with a truly unique en-suite bathroom. There are views to three aspects, overlooking the river Gordana, and across the grounds to the chestnut groves around of the mill.
This room was once where the chestnuts were dried, before being ground in the mill to make flour, and is fashioned entirely from stone and wood.
With beautiful effects of light playing on the stone walls and views of the forest and gardens, this a truly magical space. Set apart from the wider mill, the door opens onto a spacious south-easterly facing balcony.
La camera del Ghiro
When we first arrived at the Mulino we found a dormouse nesting between the window and the shutter, snuggled in for the winter with his store of nuts.The room now is a large double with views of the river, garden and ancient stone bridge. The dormouse has since relocated.
La Stanza della Musica
This room was used for practice in winter by Zeri’s own concert violinist. Beautiful views of the old stone bridge and the garden and forest unfold on two sides. Perhaps you may still hear a fine note lingering in the stillness.
La Camera del Mugnaio
This is the room where the miller and his wife once slept. There is a balcony outside the window and it has views of the forest and garden. It boasts chestnut beamed ceilings and a coarse stone and wooden bathroom.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Breakfast, which is included in the room price, is served from 8am-10am and is buffet style, with a selection of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, cake, fresh bread and croissants, coffee, tea and fruit juice.
Lunches are available from a set menu, which changes daily. A cooked lunch consists of a first and second course with wine, water and coffee.
Dinner is from a set menu and consists of antipasto, primo, secondo and dessert courses, and includes wine, water and coffee. We always use fresh local produce in our kitchen whenever possible; produce is either grown organically on our own land or else sourced from local farmers here in Zeri Valley.Please arrange with us for lunches and dinners by 10am of that day.
For the hikers and bikers we can do you a good packed lunch, to keep you going through the day.
Antipasti always numerous and different; local cheeses and salamis, torte di erbe, small fritters, chestnut flour fritters with fresh ricotta...
First courses prepared with homemade pasta, particularly our tagliolini with fennel and potato and leek tortelli...
Second courses based from local meat, like the famous Zeri lamb and wild game.
We can also prepare Vegetarian second courses with the vegetables grown in our orto.
Desserts exclusively homemade; mattonella, or try our raspberry sorbet, and our special fruits of the forest...
Culinarily, we rigourously make our food on site! Traditional local antipasti, we make our own pastas, meat is locally reared and butchered, and desserts homemade.
Gnocchi made with Zeri potatoes! Coltivated in our orto, with pureed squash (obviously from our orto too).
The famous Zeri lamb, Porcini mushrooms from Zeri and homemade biscuits.
